Software Developer - Full Stack

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and continuously expand data pipelines by performing extraction, transformation, and loading activities.
• Required to translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications. This includes developing detailed programming specifications, writing and/or generating code, compiling data-driven programs, maintaining, and conducting unit tests.
• Resolves and troubleshoots technical problems which arise during the use and operation of software packages, including technical assistance in implementation, conversion and migrations.

Qualifications & Requirements

REQUIRED

• Must be able to work 5 days onsite per week.
• Advanced proficiency in NextJS/ React.js (including NodeJS)
• Strong proficiency in modern Python development and a proven track record of designing and building RESTful APIs using FastAPI.
• Proven expertise with .NET Core Services/Web API, and C#
• Advanced knowledge of UI design, responsive design patterns and testable UI architecture.
• Experience in programming and analysis; specialized software package support at the specified experience level
• Ability to collaborate with IT Professionals throughout the Software Development Life Cycle
• Experience in structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications
• Experience in design, code, test, debug and document applications
• Experience in the use of object and/or third generation language development tools
• Experience in one or more programming languages
• Experience in application design, latest design patterns, deployment and troubleshooting
• Experience with relational and hierarchical database technologies
• Experience in the use of information retrieval packages using query languages
• Experience with one or more communications protocols
• Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of applications
• Experience eliciting and documenting information from diverse business area stakeholders and subject matter experts
• Experience with application architecture, front-end & back-end integration, API development

• Proficient with both front end and back end development, including any associated areas such as database design/management and DevOps

• Knowledge and experience ensuring the entire stack is designed and built for speed and scalability
• Knowledge and experience with the design and construction of REST API services
• Knowledge and experience integrating front-end UI with the constructed API
• Knowledge and experience in design and implementation of continuous integration and deployment

NICE TO HAVE

• 3+ years of experience with relevant technology with ML models (area of computer vision)
• Knowledge and experience with programming Internet-ready applications
• Knowledge and experience in rapid application development (RAD) methodologies
• Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices
• Experience with middleware and gateways
• Experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying product installation scripts including encoding, testing, debugging
• Ability to provide post-implementation support and resolve any post-implementation technical issues
• Experience conducting design walkthrough sessions with project team
• Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards
• Ability to provide user and system documentation as required
• High level of knowledge around the Angular framework and JavaScript.
• High level knowledge of front-end interfaces.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and good understanding of Swagger files.
• Demonstrated ability to create self-contained, reusable, and testable modules and components that build on the elements and modules of core AngularJS.
• Experience creating, designing, and implementing layouts for new and existing web pages. Excellent knowledge of front-end web programming languages, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AngularJS, with ability to render server-side and client-side content.
• Experience designing user interactions on websites, developing servers and databases for website functionality and coding for mobile platforms.
• Fundamental knowledge of UX/UI.
• Experience ensuring front end code is able to query APIs.
• Experience with Java WebLogic and Java programming for web applications (Tomcat, Weblogic), EJB, Servlet
• Strong database skills and SQL skills (Oracle, SQL Server)
• Experience / knowledge of REST, SOAP web services.
• Experience / knowledge of Azure DevOps, JIRA, agile/scrum

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Engineering Practices. Communication and Leadership - 10%

Technical Expertise and Full-Stack Proficiency - 55%

• You have advanced proficiency in NextJS/ React.js (including NodeJS)
• You have strong proficiency in modern Python development and a proven track record of designing and building RESTful APIs using FastAPI.
• You have proven expertise with .NET Core Services/Web API, and C#
• You have advanced knowledge of UI design, responsive design patterns and testable UI architecture.
• You have strong understanding of Web Security, Public Security, 0Auth2.0, and JWT Authentication, and session management.
• You possess expert knowledge of MS Azure SQL Server including DB encryption, tuning, stored procedures, triggers, user-defined functions, jobs, and query optimization.
• You have experience with Cosmos DB, Redis cache and managed services.
• You are familiar with Azure Key Vault for secure storage management.
• Strong knowledge of application packaging and container-based deployments
• You have strong working knowledge of Azure DevOps tools
• You have demonstrated the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues throughout development, implementation, conversion and deployment.

AI/ML Expertise - 15%

• You have direct experience with AI/ML development, deployment and integration.
• You have hands-on experience with model training using TensorFlow and PyTorch.
• You have experience in computer vision. You are proficient with OpenCV for image processing and computer vision tasks.
• You have experience with computer vision model training and evaluation, tuning hyperparameters and evaluating model performance using metrics such as accuracy, precision, detection, etc.

Architecture and Design - 20%

• You have experience and understanding of modern, cloud-based architecture.
• You actively participate and own architecture and solution design and provide recommendations focused on the security, Web API, microservices, back-end and front-end layers
• You have proven experience architecting complex applications, optimizing performance, and managing state effectively
• You have strong experience in owning, designing and implementing reusable, and scalable components
• You have hands-on experience with software architecture principles and patterns such as serverless architecture, Microservices, RESTful APIs.
