Project Overview
The purpose of the Ontario Agricultural Soil Information System (OASIS) project is to design and develop a robust, comprehensive system for the collection, storage and maintenance of OMAFA’s legacy and new agricultural soil data in alignment to actions under the Soil Strategy and other emerging OMAFA and government initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for ongoing testing of the Ontario Agricultural Soil Information System (OASIS), including the OASIS core web application (built using Azure Cloud Java technology) and OASIS field data application (built using ESRI GIS technology).
- Provide comprehensive and detailed hands-on testing covering cloud-based Java technologies, including JSON, RESTful Web Services, HTML5.
- Develop plans, execute testing and produce testing artifacts, assuring software quality.
- Document errors and defect tracking management.
- Creation and implementation of test strategy, plans for testing software, debugging code, and enhancing the usability of programs.
Qualifications & Requirements
REQUIRED
- Must be able to work 2 days onsite per week in Toronto or Guelph
- Minimum 5 years of experience performing quality assurance and testing activities within Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall SDLC environments.
- Experience testing cloud-based applications developed using Java technologies, JSON, RESTful Web Services, and HTML5
- Proven experience developing and executing test strategies, test plans, test cases and test scripts, test execution and reporting artifacts.
- Experience identifying, documenting, tracking, and managing software defects throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Demonstrated ability to validate business and technical requirements, support debugging activities, and contribute to overall software quality and usability.
- Experience conducting accessibility testing in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), including the use of accessibility testing tools.
- Working knowledge of quality assurance and testing tools, including Azure DevOps and Postman
- Demonstrated understanding of privacy, security, and confidentiality requirements and compliance with Ontario Public Service (OPS) and Information & Information Technology Strategy (I&ITS) policies, standards, directives, and governance requirements.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience using approved AI-assisted quality assurance and testing tools to improve testing effectiveness, productivity, quality, and delivery outcomes.
- Experience testing applications or information systems supporting agricultural operations, environmental programs, or soil management solutions.
- Experience testing Esri ArcGIS and Survey123 applications and related geospatial technologies.
- Experience validating integrations involving RESTful APIs, geospatial services, and mapping applications.
- Demonstrated experience delivering quality assurance services within Agile environments, including adapting testing approaches to align with organizational processes, governance requirements, and delivery objectives.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Mandatory Technical Skills and Experience - 50%
