Project Description
The Courts Digital Transformation (CDT) initiative is a key modernization initiative for the Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG), Superior Court of Justice (SCJ) and Ontario Court of Justice (OCJ).
CDT will replace legacy technology, increase standardization of processes, and achieve integration of systems between courts and business lines.
CDT is centered around the procurement and implementation of an end-to-end digital justice solution to support e-filing, document management and sharing, case management, scheduling, a public portal for both the SCJ and the OCJ across all lines of business.
CDT will modernize the way that justice is delivered and administered in Ontario, by providing justice participants, including self-represented litigants and self-represented accused, the private bar, Crown counsel, broader public sector users, judiciary and court staff with accessible online options.
Job Description
A Note on Assignment Type:
This position is currently listed as "Onsite", working 7.25 hours per calendar day, sometime between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM (excluding breaks) Monday to Friday inclusive, unless otherwise identified.
Scope
- Contribute towards testing activities for the delivery and product management life cycle of the CDT project. The resource will be responsible for the following activities:
- Assist in the development of test strategy, preparation of test cases / scenarios, test scripts, regression test cases/scenarios required to verify solution and system.
- Execute all test activities including AODA, data testing, stress/load testing, test scripts to verify solution.
- Reconcile record and track system or functional defects, break/fixes identified during unit and user acceptance testing.
- Communication with project manager, test lead and developers to ensure application quality and alignment with project timelines
Assignment Deliverables
- Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables.
- Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements and design test coverage plan.
- Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues to management.
- Develop, document, and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like the test scripts, test data and data validation.
- Execution of manual test cases and report test results.
- Document software defects and track resolution.
- Ability to create test plan, test cases and test scripts to validate those changes made to the application
- Support User Acceptance Testing and lead initial UAT sessions.
- Review user documentation and provide feedback to improve application alignment and clarity of the information.
- Management and maintenance of defect log and communication of defect related issues to project team
- Working closely with QA team lead and developers holding triage sessions and ensuring appropriate prioritization of defects
- Working closely with the client lead, prioritize, schedule and remediate defects.
- Prepare test data sets that mimic real-world scenarios, ensuring the data covers a wide range of cases and scenarios.
- Ability to create and execute database queries to extract relevant data
- Execute and evaluate manual/automated test cases and report test results.
- Hold and facilitate test plan/test case reviews with cross functional team members.
Deliverables / Responsibilities
A Note on the VOR Master Service Agreement:
The VOR Master Service Agreement expires on April 5, 2027, and includes a six (6)-month survival clause, allowing the Statement of Work (SOW) to continue, if operationally required, until October 5, 2027. Extension(s) are only allowed using unused days and/or funds remaining on the contract. No additional funds will be added beyond the maximum contract value and any extension options included in the original SOW. JTS may exercise its option(s) to extend the SOW beyond April 5, 2027, in accordance with the survival clause.
The start date is subject to change based on security clearances and contract signing timelines.

Mandatory Requirements
- 8+ years of demonstrated QA experience, including leading QA teams, defect tracking using a collaborative tool to manage defects and change request and to communicate status of these to all project participants
- Knowledge and experience in the use of version control systems on one or more platforms
- Knowledge and experience in all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle
- Conceptual skills to see the big picture and assist in integrating QA/testing processes and standards
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; organizational, creativity and perseverance skills, verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience in planning, organizing and implementing testing efforts at the specified experience level
- Knowledge of structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications
- Knowledge and experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and data query tools to aid in the development of test cases
- Knowledge and experience in the use of automated test tools and version control systems on one or more platforms
- Experience executing functional tests, non-functional tests and systems level integration tests
- Experience supporting user acceptance testing and participating in UAT activities
- Experience with quality assurance principles, practices, tools and structured methodologies

- Hands on experiences with technologies such as SharePoint, Web Services, HTML, JavaScript and VBScript, COTS, SaaS, Cloud applications
- Experience executing functional tests, non-functional tests, data testing, and systems level integration tests
- Knowledge and experience of automation tools and the use of version control systems on one or more platforms
- Able to extract and retrieve data by using database queries (e.g., SQL)
- Demonstrate knowledge of regression and integration testing with enterprise level applications/solutions.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle
Criteria 2: Quality Assurance Skills - 35 Points
- Demonstrated experience in defect tracking using a collaborative tool to manage defects and change request and to communicate status of these to all project participants.
- Demonstrated experience in test management (Test Plan, Test Scenarios, Test Cases and Test Execution), defect management (Defect Life Cycle and Triage) and Test Execution Reporting.
- Experience with User Acceptance Testing and UAT sessions
Criteria 3: Business Skills - 25 Points
- Demonstrated experience working with clients and technical teams to ensure effective resolution of defects and management of change requests are complete.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; organizational, creativity and perseverance skills; strong verbal and written communication skills
- Provide periodic status reports, present test data defects/migration strategy and approach to executives and other stakeholders.
Criteria 4: Public Sector Experience - 5 Points
- Previous experience working in Government or Public Sector organizations
