Project Overview
The Agency requires a contract resource to support Virtual Care Product modernization, with a specialized focus on SMART on FHIR application development, hospital information system integration, HL7v2 interfaces, FHIR APIs, Mirth integration engine, scheduling integration, and clinical workflow integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and support ReactJS frontend components for Virtual Care Products.
- Build Java Spring Boot microservices and APIs supporting SMART on FHIR, scheduling, encounter, patient, provider, and virtual visit workflows.
- Implement and support SMART on FHIR launch flows, FHIR API interactions, clinical context handling, and secure integration patterns.
- Integrate Virtual Care Products with HIS platforms such as MEDITECH, Epic, and Cerner.
- Design, implement, test, and troubleshoot HL7v2 and FHIR-based integrations using Mirth integration engine and related interface technologies.
- Support scheduling and encounter workflow integration between virtual care platforms and hospital systems.
- Support retirement and replacement of legacy TSM functionality by building modern, standards-based application and integration components.
- Collaborate with architects, integration teams, HIS stakeholders, clinical/business teams, privacy, security, QA, and operations stakeholders.
- Support API design, data mapping, message transformation, message validation, error handling, audit logging, monitoring, interface reconciliation, and operational support requirements.
- Work with QA and Test Lead resources to support integration testing, interface validation, regression testing, defect resolution, release readiness, and production implementation.
- Prepare technical documentation, data mapping documentation, interface specifications, deployment notes, operational support notes, and knowledge transfer materials.
- Perform defect fixes, code reviews, contribute to sprint deliverables, demos, and release support.
Qualifications & Requirements
REQUIRED
- Must be able to work onsite as required.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience integrating with hospital information systems such as Epic, Cerner, and MEDITECH.
- Strong specialist experience with SMART on FHIR, FHIR APIs, HL7v2, clinical launch context, OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, and secure healthcare application integration.
- Strong experience with Mirth integration engine, including HL7v2 message routing, transformation, validation, troubleshooting, and production support.
- Experience with clinical scheduling, encounter workflows, patient/provider context, healthcare data exchange, and hospital workflow integration.
- Experience designing and supporting secure, scalable, accessible, auditable, and maintainable healthcare application components.
- ReactJS frontend development experience.
- Java Spring Boot microservice and backend API development experience.
- Experience with API design, REST integration, error handling, logging, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Public sector experience is required.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with systems such as Ocean, Novari, or similar referral platforms.
- Experience with healthcare workflows, virtual care workflows, hospital scheduling workflows, referrals, clinical documentation, and provider directory integration.
- Experience with Epic App Orchard, MEDITECH APIs/interfaces, Cerner integration patterns, or other HIS vendor integration models.
- Experience with FHIR R4/R5 resources such as Patient, Practitioner, Organization, Location, Encounter, Appointment, Schedule, Slot, ServiceRequest, DocumentReference, and Composition.
- Experience with interface monitoring, message replay, error queues, reconciliation, message acknowledgement handling, and production support of healthcare integrations.
- Experience with accessibility, privacy, security, audit logging, monitoring, and supportability requirements in healthcare applications.

- SMART on FHIR, FHIR API, OAuth/OIDC/JWT, secure clinical launch, healthcare interoperability, and clinical context handling experience - 30 points
- HIS integration experience with Epic, Cerner, MEDITECH, HL7v2, Mirth integration engine, scheduling, encounter, patient, and provider workflows - 30 points
- ReactJS, Java Spring Boot, microservices, APIs, database integration, CI/CD, testing support, and production application development experience - 20 points
